| Have you ever dreamed of being a game developer? |

The guys at Frictional Games have an interesting blog post in which they discuss how they started their company and the day to day struggles they go through. Writing computer games for a living would be a dream come true for many, but the reality sounds much the same as in the music industry, lots of hard work, low pay and the publisher gets the lion share of the profits unless you are one of the lucky few to make it big like John Carmack or Will Wright. It's not all bad news though. Frictional Games' publisher had the foresight to only acquire rights to the first two chapters of the Windows versions of Penumbra Collection, so the profits from the recent, hugely successful Linux and Mac sale, have gone straight to the developers, providing the financial shot in the arm they needed to continue living the dream. blog comments powered by Disqus |
